Clik here to view.In my opinion the absolute most thrilling Halloween event in Orlando is open and ready for business! It’s been 20 years of fear at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando and this year fear has come out to play. Boasting 8 Haunted Houses, 6 Scare Zones and the always eventful Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Halloween Horror Nights 20 had enough entertainment to be worth your money.
I’ve been attending HHN since I was about 14 years old and try not to miss a year, though I have missed a few. The Houses are theImage may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.draw for me each year. Universal goes out of their way to make sure everything is a really authentic quality like you would see in the movies. This year I would highly recommend The Hallow’d Past, which celebrates the past 20 years worth of houses. The house takes place in a props studio in which props from scary movies and past HHN are displayed. Then as you walk through each room reflects a popular house from a previous year, which was really nostalgic for myself and my friends. I do not recommend The Orphanage. It wasn’t scary enough and I felt it was lower budget than the other houses I visited.

Clik here to view.Scare Zones are areas of the park where your worst nightmares walk amongst you, and sometimes they carry chainsaws. This year Zombie Gras was worth strolling (or running) through. A Mardi Gras party for the undead best describes what is usually called the Embarcedero. Zombies dressed in the colors of Carnival dance in a bizarre fashion through fog and scare you when you least expect it. You won’t be able to miss the chainsaw carrying crazies when you first walk into the park so be prepared. They’ll even do this creepy organized dance “thing” and then break off to chase you down.
Drink much? If so there are Blood Bars all over the park that sell things such as blood bags filled with a schnapps jello shot. They are really fun to carry around the park and suck on as the night draws on. You can even recap them if you don’t want the shot all at once. My friend Andrea and I took a funny picture of us with our blood bags. I rarely drink and although this tasted strong, it did not give me a headache or anything. There are many other types of themed drinks so make sure you bring your I.D. and some extra cash!
Finally Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure is a live show that works off of important things that have happened in pop culture through the year. I will sadly admit that this year did not live up to any of the previous years. I would recommend skipping this show and catching an extra Haunted House. The cast even makes a Image may be NSFW.

For myself and my friends the event is all about the atmosphere. HHN is spine tingling and the anticipation before you walk into a House or wondering what is lurking around the corner is priceless. Halloween Horror Nights 20 was a blast and we’ll be back next year. The only other advice I can give is to purchase the Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass because it was really crowded and the lines were long. Since this event runs late I’d recommend getting a hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel At Universal OrlandoThis is to be expected at such a special event. HHN 20 takes place on select nights until October 31st.
